Dans l'équipe mag de ce jour, il y a un article sur le dopage en RDA. On nous dit que Gerd Bonk, un haltérophile, prenait 11500mg de turi par jour dans les années 70 (!!?!?!!!?!).
Il est mort d'un cancer le mois dernier.

Le journaliste a eu des spasmes aux doigts en tapant son article ??

Berlin - The former strongest man in the world is dead: Former weightlifter Gerd Bonk died on Monday in his hometown of Thuringia Greiz at the age of 63 years, his severe illness. The Olympic silver medalist from 1976 is one of about 200 state-approved doping victims of the former GDR. Last, the former world record holder had suffered severe organ damage.

According to the doping-victim assistance association (DOH), who was informed of Bonk family over death, Bonk was already "fallen by a total collapse and double resuscitation coma" the end of September. Bonk is survived by his wife and a son.

"Gerd Bonk was one of the largest German weightlifter," said Beijing-Olympic champion Matthias Steiner. "We started for the same club, started in the same weight class and both have lifted over 250 pounds. Unfortunately we never got to know us personally. My condolences to his family."

Bonk won at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 the bronze medal four years later in Montreal silver. In the same year, the trained auto mechanic with 252.5 kilos set a world record in the thrusting.

However, the Superschwergewichtler stood for years under the influence of drugs. According to DOH Bonk had been administered anabolic annual quantities of up to 11.5 grams of Oral-Turinabol within the state plan of the GDR.

"If you do not take it, you're out tomorrow"

"Then the doctor came in with a tray in and said if you do not take it, you're out tomorrow," Bonk once told the Süddeutsche Zeitung. You have not told him about the possible long-term consequences, but merely said: "There grows a bit of beard, nothing more happened."

That was a lie, as we know today. After the 150-pound man not brought the benefits it was sorted out in 1984, and received from his former club Karl-Marx-Stadt, according to DOH no medical care more.

Bonk was at the end of his life with diabetes, was in a wheelchair and had to because of his severe kidney disease three times a week for dialysis. But he had not lost his sense of humor: "I had a world record in weightlifting Maybe I'm still a dialysis-world record.."

The Federal Association of German weightlifter (BVDG) gave his mourning for the deceased expressed. "We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the families and our grief and wish you strength to get through this difficult time", let the BVDG in a statement announced.

Bonk won in his career total of 31 international medals in Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
